And, we're back...

So I'm sitting in my bed.

It's 6:49am and I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant with #2. My back is totally out from being almost 40 and lifting a 2 1/2 year old who is getting over the lovely hand, foot and mouth (which before having children I would have thought was some offshoot of mad cow disease). I have a million things to do at work before going on mat leave next week but what am I doing? Obsessing over design templates on Blogger so I can bring back Downtown Mama for mat leave #2. And I'm mostly obsessing over how I have no idea how to do any of this.

Ironic, considering I oversee amazing sites like iVillage Canada and Sweetspot.ca and in theory have access to a whole bunch of producers and designers who could come up with something cool in the time it takes me to finish this posting.

But I'm stubborn, so for now, I'm not asking them for help. So what you're seeing is my lame first attempt - hey, the background is a butcher block. Kinda Queen West West, no?? No. :(

Truth be told, I want to prove my Grade 9 Art teacher wrong (I almost failed Grade 9 Art - calligraphy + left handedness = fail). I think I have good taste. I have kinda a cool Pinterest board going look at me all web-savvy n' junk) and I have super strong opinions on what I like (simple, modern, clean) and don't like (girly, fancy, cluttered) design-wise. I would like my blog to look like my inspiration picture above (also inspiration for baby #2 room).

But right now I got nothing. Except Archer, who just woke-up and wants mommy. Nothing like a toddler to keep it real... maybe I will take our web designer out for lunch today. Hmmm....
